The Cygwin IRC channel only has a couple of knowledgeable people
populating it so I'm not going to widely advertise it as a potential way
to get support. As it stands right now, unless you're lucky enough to
get help from Yaakov or Jon Turney, you are likely to be led down a
rabbit hole with helpful people suggesting helpful, nonsensical stuff.
So, making it official would likely lead to confusion.

If that changes, I'll certainly reconsider but I don't see any reason
to advertise YA way to get wrong advice about Cygwin.

(08/07/12 10:51:08) The topic for #cygwin is: This is not an official support channel. If you really think you can get help here then: 1. Read the FAQ at http://cygwin.com/faq.html, 2. Check the mailing list archives at http://cygwin.com/ml/cygwin/, 3. Ask a detailed question. Please avoid the term "newbie".
