Dear All,

I compiled a program under the latest version of Cygwin (1.7.7). But when I run my executable file, I get a STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION exception.

Are you sure your code isn't buggy? That's usually the sign of a NULL dereference or other bad code.

Which makes sense - they solve problems related to the ability to execute a program, but not problems related to bugs in the program once it is executed.

Run it under gdb, and figure out where your bad code is.
