Do the changes from 1.7.1 to the latest snapshot require me to do something with LANG settings
for a US English Southern California Vista Business SP2 machine?
Pressing the backspace key did nothing, no cursor motion or deletion. Reverting to 1.7.1 restored
the backspace key functionality.
