But, you forget.  Cygwin is emulating linux and linux is faster than
Windows.

Dave, you have to think about these things before you just fire off
email!

The real solution here is to just make sure that all of the time
functions in Cygwin report figures which support the fact that Cygwin is
as fast as Linux.
