Do you mean the name or the numeric value? In either case, just edit /etc/passwd and /etc/group on Cygwin -- the SID is the only value that really matters as far as Windows is concerned. All the rest is up to you. HTH, Igor
Actually, I meant "how do I do it so that I don't have to edit /etc/{passwd,group} manually
each time I add a user to XP?" Is there a way to specify the mapping to uid/gid numbers so that I get the
same passwd file automatically?
If not, I guess I could write a script.
