One comment on the last point: I've submitted a patch to Cygwin setup to
make it cache the mirror list locally and use the local copy if
sources.redhat.com is unreachable. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like
these patches will make it into an official setup snapshot by the time the
server goes down, so I'm making a copy available at
<http://cs.nyu.edu/~pechtcha/cygwin/setup-2.513-1-alpha.exe>.
This is not needed for the operation of setup, but if you want to have the
FULL mirror list available, you must run that copy of setup at least once
before the server goes down and bring it to the mirror selection screen to
let it download a local copy of the mirror list. After the mirror list is
displayed, you can cancel out of the installation. There's no need to
actually install anything to get the mirror list.
If the mirror list is unavailable and not locally cached, *this* setup
should still work using your previously selected mirrors.
Please report any setup problems to the cygwin-apps mailing list, and not
directly to me.
Igor
