Dave,
It is *strongly* recommended that you upgrade to a newer version of
Cygwin. FWIW, it should be backward-compatible, so all older code should
run under it. If you're unable or unwilling to upgrade, please be aware
that older versions of Cygwin aren't supported on this list.
That said, you could try your luck with the Cygwin time machine (Google
for it).
