No, that's not "standard windows conventions"! The 'doze conventions are Ctrl+X/C/V for cut/copy/paste.


Shift+Ins/Del is the *MS-DOS* convention, as seen in such classic and historical programs as 'ed'.....

I refer you to http://www.microsoft.com/enable/products/keyboard/keyboardresults.asp?Product=2 which clearly shows SHIFT+INSERT (search for that) as a standard way to paste (as well as CTRL+V). That MS-DOS may have also supported that is irrelevant really.


Interestingly though MS lists keyboard short cuts for the various flavors of Windows - 98, 2000, XP, 2003. Some list SHIFT+INSERT as paste right along side of CTRL+V (98, 2000), some don't list it at all (XP) and 2003 lists them separately. In practice however CTRL+V == SHIFT-INSERT. YMMV.

And, most importantly to the OP, SHIFT-INSERT works with rxvt.
