FYI, if you make this same statement on the cygwin-xfree list, you'll get
plenty of responses telling you that a) there have been numerous
improvements and speedups, and b) you should try either the -rootless or
the (newer) -multiwindow mode. More details on the cygwin-xfree list.
This doesn't necessarily help you with your keyboard issue, but more of an
aside...
