Can you point to the place in the user guide that suggests that you should
remove the SID from /etc/passwd? FWIW, I would not recommend this course of
action for anyone looking for proper permissions handling on NT/W2K/XP with
NTFS. If some documentation suggests this, either my recommendation or the
documentation needs to adjusted.
