bash redirection problem

I'm trying to get bash scripts (from the ht//dig multidig
scripts) to work under cygwin which incorporate commands
 like
cat /dev/stdin >> somefilename
They work ok under linux, but cygwin (latest version
 installed yesterday) returns
cat: /dev/stdin: no such file or directory
there isn't a /dev directory as in linux
What is the workaround if any to sort this to allow stdin
to be redirected to a file?
