I got a lot of core dumps always, when my cygwin-installation is corrupted.
i uninstall most of it and reinstall all new, then it is o.k in most cases.

It depends on what your os is, these rpm-packages are os-specific, there are
hints on the side, i have to install with the option ignoreos, because i got
WindowsNT, with only -i, you should have Win2000.
