I use non cygwin programs to create files in directories created by Cygwin and
like to get coherent permissions. The + in the ls output doesn't bother me.
If they cause problems, permissions of existing directories can be fixed by the user.
After all 1.7 is still experimental.
Why not, in addition the 3 drawbacks above?
Yeah, my thoughts align very much with Pierre's here. It seems like very
little
negative for a potential big positive (or maintenance of the status quo,
depending
on how you look at it). To me, it seems like we should make
interoperability with
Windows tools as smooth as possible without sacrificing the Linux/Unix
interoperability
we're striving for. Since it's not obvious to me that doing (4) would
violate that
tenant, I think it's worthwhile to reinstate it. I'll concede that it may
lead to a few
more questions on the main list about what the "+" means but, to me, that's
really
an education issue and not Cygwin-specific either. However, if someone can
think of
other issues that may fallout of this change, it's possible those might sway
me to
think otherwise. :-)
