I don't see this.  I've just read (carefully I hope) the above text
(before I saw your posting) and I'm reading it now again.  I don't
see the text where EINPROGRESS is treated invalid for AF_UNIX.

You might note that EINPROGRESS is dealt with under the general error
codes, not under any socket type specific error codes.
