It is one of the packages which must be compilable before a new version
of gcc is released:  http://gcc.gnu.org/gcc-3.4/criteria.html

I bet it is available for nearly every Linux distribution, from the
Boost website: "Popular Linux and Unix distributions such as Fedora,
Debian, and NetBSD include pre-built Boost packages."
